Chalachew N. Agonafir brings over two decades of grassroots development experience, excelling in project management, team leadership, and governance across diverse regions, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, Chad, Niger, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Canada, and the USA. His expertise spans climate-smart agriculture, participatory monitoring and evaluation (M&E), impact assessment, and knowledge management. Currently leading the Dutch Committee for Afghanistan, he has successfully increased funding by 20-fold, developed donor-compliant policies, enhanced team productivity, emphasized gender and youth interventions, and strengthened stakeholder partnerships.
Agonafir's diverse background in the humanitarian and development sectors spans parts of Asia and Africa. His expertise includes project and program management, M&E and impact assessment, strategic planning, and training facilitation. Notable achievements include defining organizational missions, ensuring financial oversight, successfully fundraising to secure resources, and enhancing the public standing of organizations.
Chalachew Agonafir holds a master’s degree in international development studies from the University of Limerick and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Addis Ababa University.
